Our CNA program prepares you with the knowledge and hands-on skills to pass the California state competency exam and succeed in your healthcare career. Here’s what you’ll cover.

Program structure

Total program: 160 hours — 60 hours of classroom theory plus 100 hours of supervised clinical training. Theory / classroom instruction — 60 hours (about 2 weeks)

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Classroom-based instruction covering foundational nursing knowledge, patient care principles, and California state requirements

Clinical training — 100 hours (about 2 weeks)

Monday to Friday, morning (AM) shift
Shift times are tentatively between 6:30–7:00 AM and 2:30–3:30 PM, depending on your assigned clinical site
Hands-on experience in a supervised healthcare setting, such as a nursing home or hospital, working directly with patients

Theory (classroom) topics

Role and responsibilities of a CNA
Infection control and safety practices
Basic nursing skills: vital signs, patient hygiene, mobility assistance
Anatomy and physiology
Nutrition and hydration
Communication and patient rights
Emergency procedures (CPR and First Aid basics)
Cultural sensitivity and ethical care

How it’s taught: In-person lectures, group discussions, and interactive activities.

Clinical training skills

- Patient hygiene (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Safe patient transfers and mobility assistance (wheelchairs, gait belts)
- Feeding and nutrition monitoring
- Taking and recording vital signs
- Infection prevention techniques
- Bedside care and comfort measures
- Documentation and reporting

Clinical setting: Local nursing homes or healthcare facilities under the supervision of a licensed instructor.

Skills practice and exam preparation

Practice labs. You’ll rehearse essential CNA skills in a simulated lab to prepare for the state exam.
Mock state exam. A final assessment that mirrors the real state test — both written and practical — to build your confidence and readiness.

Program completion
